Sometimes finding the best place to place these knitted objects can be challenging. Yesterday was one of those days. I wanted to place it in an unusual space that wasn’t associated with a park or library. While walking up and down Congress I began noticing people patterns–or the way people interact with the space. Nothing new for architects and urban engineers, but something new for a studio artist like myself. After awhile, I noticed that the most pedestrian traffic occured at the west half of Clark and Congress, so I decided to place the sweater at the northwest corner of of that intersection. It also happens to be a hang out for quite a few homeless folks. Notice the graffiti along the fence post–something that attracted me to the spot instantly.
